In times like these, people are forced to rely on themselves more than they're usually used to. For my final project, I would like to demonstrate the art of skilled craftsmanship and the ability to rely on one's own abilities for life.

has + has: Blacksmith Project
This set displays the raw feeling found in the atmosphere of blacksmithing, a lost art in a modern world. Has and Has captured this feeling by using the exciting colors of the sparking hammer to have a contrasting image with the surrounding darkness. Whether it be the man's smile or the warm hammer, the images have an overall moody feeling to them with some spark of enlightenment.
Paul Worpole Industrial Photography
Worpole does an excellent job capturing, well, another job. Pictures like these make me have a sensation of fulfillment towards a job. The bright welding and cutting sparks draw my eyes into the image like a mosquito to a lantern.

Statement
This set explores the lost art of skilled craftsmanship. As we advance through civilization with technology and societal expansion, less people are willing to perform harder tasks since they can easily be made by a machine. It may produce a product that can reach people far and wide, but there is little love left in the resulting product. I never had a person teach me the ropes of how to work with my hands, but I found a love for it on my own. The love for craftsmanship is not dead.
I took the physical beauty found within and take snapshots of it to pause moments one would never be able to see with the naked eye. If you look at welding sparks with the naked eye, you can easily go blind or have permanent eye damage due to the immense amount of light put off. These images are a glimpse into the beauty that lurks within every item a craftsman may forge.
